Abstract |
A second edition of the Service Availability and Readiness Assessment (SARA) survey was implemented by the Ministry of
Health of Mauritania in 2016 with technical support from the World Health Organization (WHO). The SARA survey 2016
aimed to assess the availability and operational capacity of health services to provide quality care throughout the national
territory. Specifically the survey's objectives were to: assess the availability of health services in the facilities at all levels
of care; measure the availability of basic equipment; assess the availability of drugs and other medical products; assess the availability of treatment guidelines and diagnostic tools; and assess the operational capacity of health facilities to provide specific health services such as child health, reproductive health, malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
The census covered 288 public and private health facilities across the country. Data was collected from January to February 2016.
